Last night was round 1 of Art League Atlanta. For those of you who haven't heard, it's where local artists face off in a head to head battle. Everyone is put in pairs and given a subject and just 2 hours to make a piece of art. At the end of the night everyone who attends gets to vote on who out of the pair was stronger, and that person advances to round 2 to face off with one of the other winners.
I had to face the talented David Lane last night, and our subject was made at random that night. All thsoe who attended were given two slips of paper to write an adjective and noun on. They were placed in a hat and drawn to make a subject. We ended up with the subject "sarcastic skeleton".

It was a tricky subject, but in the end everyone came up with really great work. I was voted to advance to the next round. I was really shocked, because David had come up with such a witty idea and pulled it off so quickly. It must have been a close race. I really can't thank everyone who came out to support me enough. From my good friends who stood by me all night (in the window..being my rock and sending me good vibes..]) to all my new friends who just came by to give me courage, thank you so much! I was so flattered that I think my face was red from embarrassment the last half of the night.

At the end of the night my piece ended up selling for the highest price in ALA history. It really means a lot to me that everyone liked my work. I'm so thankful for the wonderful people, and talented artists I was able to hang out with last night. I really can't wait until round 2!
